Traveling in Japan is like an amuse-bouche, a small yet flavorful taste that inevitably leaves you craving for more. Japan reveals its true colors and expresses its beautifully intricate and diverse culture across many distinct cities.

Of all the nations of the world, there are just a few countries in which the art of welcoming guests is so deeply woven into the fabric of local culture and Japan is one of them! Japanese hospitality – or omotenashi – is as much as an art form as the musicianship of the geisha or the way of the samurai.

This beautiful country, is undoubtedly one of the most fascinating, unique, and diverse places on earth. A parallel universe of cultural remoteness and a window into a different world. A country where soaring buildings and neon cyberworld meet ancient forests, sacred volcanoes, and pink cherry blossoms.

Travel experiences aren’ t just about the final destination. They begin and end with a journey. From the moment you step into your car, arrive at an airport and board a plane, the details should be executed to perfection. It ought to be a breeze!

TIMELESS TOKYO

Tokyo is a timeless city, where past, present, and future can not only coexist, but thrive as well. A city where skyscrapers and luxury boutiques are neighbors to peaceful shrines. century-old artisanal businesses and luxury ryokans.

Tokyo stuns with its futuristic architecture, high-speed railway system, the out-of-this-world fashion scene of Harajuku, world-class city hotels, and exquisite dining.

Anyone with an interest in urban design will love exploring the city’s architecture, alongside a expert private guide. However, there are also some rather unusual experiences, including a traditional tea ceremony, the art of calligraphy, attending a sumo tournament or spending an evening with a sake connoisseur.

This, relatively small space, paired with a fierce culture, has allowed for one of the most impressive cities in the world. Tokyo renders urban chaos, desirable as the most populous metropolitan area on Earth; the Gastronomic Capital of the World; home to the biggest fish market; most expensive sake; best service; fashion; and riverboat entertainment on the planet. Lose yourself in a maze of Michelin-starred restaurants, pachinko parlors, quirky museums, imperial architecture and bustling streets. Re-discover yourself in a deliciously juicy watermelon square and a short train ride to the mountains. Test the limits of your sensory stimulation and then let it all go – it’s part of the experience!

KYOTO

Kyoto; the heart of traditional Japan, with its seventeen incredible World Heritage Sites.

In this legendary Japanese imperial metropolis, one can sense the past permeating the present, all the way to the future. It is one of the country’s most well-preserved ancient cities, and a trip there will reveal hundreds of years of Japanese history and landscape. From the natural splendor of its Arashiyama District (through which the tranquil Honzu River flows), thick with cherry blossom in March and April, to the 1,000 vermilion torii gates of the incredible Fushimi Inari Shrine, the beauty of Kyoto is mesmerizing. Travelers will undoubtedly find serenity and beauty at the tiered, red castle of Nijo and the city’s artfully sculpted dry landscape gardens, or karesansui.

Kyoto has also a great food scene and our local contacts can take guests behind the shop fronts to meet sake brewers, miso makers, confectioners, tea connoisseurs, and masters of pickling, preservation and umami. The city is also an ideal place to witness the Geisha tradition and gain basic insights into the dedication and craft of this ancient lifestyle and art form.

One could spend weeks making endless cultural discoveries in Kyoto City alone, but if one can tear themselves away from tradition, the surrounding prefecture has also a wealth of historic and natural gems to uncover.

Elevate your travel experience by spending a few days to Okayama and take a ride to Ritsurin Garden.

A trip worth taking!

Okayama is a prefecture, rich in culture, beautiful scenery and delicious food. Being a path less travelled, Okayama offers a welcome change of pace for those weary of the relentless hustle and bustle of Japan’s major cities.

Known for its delicious fruit, Okayama is often called the land of sunshine and Momotaro, with the “Peach Boy” as the local hero and symbol. This amazing city is also home to the imposing, black Okayama Castle and Okayama Korakuen, one of Japan’s three greatest landscape gardens.

At the Ritsurin Garden, one of the most beautiful gardens in Japan, one could have the opportunity to visit a bonsai master and learn about the Japanese art of growing and training these miniature trees in their pots.

Unique Travelers Useful TIP

Japan is Safe, convenient, and dense.

Thanks to the enviably low crime rate, it’s a place you may want to explore a little more than other world cities: perhaps you’ll head down that curious-looking side street, peek beyond that restaurant curtain and step into the scene inside, or even meander back to that blossom-clad boutique you cycled past, in a less well-trodden district.

Best time to visit

End of March & early April is a bit of a Catch-22. These months mark the height of the beautiful Cherry Blossom season but they also mark the busiest travel season.

Fall (Mid-October to End-November) is incredible anywhere, with the Autumn leaves being inexplicably vibrant and colorful. But again, be sure to note that this is a busy season.

Late Spring (Mid-May to End-June) & Late Summer (September to Mid-October) are our personal favorite times, as they offer great weather and smaller crowds.

Winter is rather cold and there is always potential for rain or snow. That being said, crisp blue skies, amazing seafood and sparse crowds make this a very desirable season to visit Japan.
